MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – When water flows across a roadway, it can become very dangerous very quickly.  Even a small amount of water can cause a car to lose traction and hydroplane off the road into the deeper water of the ditch.

Smaller cars with unibody construction, where there is no separate frame from the body of the car, could even float away.

The Huntsville-Madison County Rescue Squad has been working around the clock this holiday helping people in dire straits.

They have these requests:

  • They would like to make sure that it is a true emergency that they respond to and not non-emergency type calls.
  • Don't drive through flooded areas whether the road is barricaded or not.
  • Don't put yourself in a dangerous situation because then they have to put themselves in dangerous situation.
