DALLAS, Tex. – The Alabama Crimson Tide has secured it’s place in the college football playoff. The team will take on the Michigan State Spartans in the New Year’s Eve semifinal game in Dallas.

The game is at AT&T Stadium in North Texas, which is where the Tide started their season against Wisconsin.

Alabama (12-1) ended the season ranked number 2 in the nation by the College Football Playoff Selection Committee. Michigan State (12-1) is ranked 3rd.

Clemson (13-0) has been No. 1 since the committee began its rankings the first week of November.  As the top seed, the Tigers get to play as close to home as possible. They will face off against the Oklahoma Sooners (11-1) in the Orange Bowl. The Tigers and Sooners (11-1) met in Russell Athletic Bowl last season.

The Goodyear Cotton Bowl kicks off at 7:00 p.m. on December 31, 2015.

The Orange Bowl is earlier in the day. It kicks off at 3:00 that day.

The winners will play for the national championship on Jan. 11 in Glendale, Arizona.

The WHNT News 19 Sports Team will be at the Cotton Bowl to provide our viewers with the best-possible coverage of the game and the events leading up to the action.
