MADISON, Ala. - Madison City and County leaders gathered this morning to make a big announcement about the old Intergraph property, south of Interstate 565.

Today, they announced Breland Companies is purchasing the property. The 200+ acre property will become part of Town Madison.

Breland says Intergraph, who has moved into newer headquarters next door to the purchased property, will completely vacate the older buildings in the next 60 days.

Commissioners say the purchase will allow potential tenants to become part of Town Madison sooner.

"You have all the infrastructure in place," explained Commissioner Steve Haraway. "You have property [prospective tenants] can build on immediately. The utilities are here, the road network is here so all the things taking place on the beginning phases of Town Madison are already here to allow someone to move immediately."

This is just a small portion of property Breland Companies has purchased in the area.

When Town Madison up and running, it is expected to create 1,600 jobs. The shopping district is also projected to produce $1.8 million per year in new sales tax dollars for Madison City, Huntsville City and Madison County schools.
