Huntsville youth minister charged with transmitting obscene material to a child

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Huntsville Police arrested a local youth minister and charged him with transmitting obscene material to a child Wednesday.

Cristopher Bernal Alfaro, 30, of Huntsville, has been charged with two counts of transmitting obscene material to a child. Police said Alfaro is alleged to have used his position as youth minister to commit these crimes.

Covenant Presbyterian Church confirmed Alfaro was a member of the church and worked as a youth minister. The church reported Alfaro to the police in Nov., after they learned of the accusations, according to a church spokesperson.

Alfaro turned himself in to police Tuesday. An investigation is currently underway to find more potential victims.
