City of Madison Christmas parade begins at 5:30pm, part of Hughes Road to be blocked

(MADISON, Ala.) – The city of Madison’s Christmas parade will be taking to the streets Saturday evening at 5:30p.m.  You may want to plan accordingly if you have plans to travel downtown Saturday evening.  Specifically, it will impact traffic along Hughes Road.

Madison Police officers will be directing traffic .  City officials ask that you please watch for them and cooperate with their direction.

Advisory: Reminder: Madison Christmas Parade Scheduled for December 12th at 5:30PM

The annual Madison Christmas Parade is scheduled for this Saturday evening.

Parade line-up starts at 4:00PM on Plaza Blvd. This roadway will be closed to through traffic beginning at 4:00PM.

The parade route will be begin at Plaza Drive and Hughes Road and will continue to downtown Madison.

Hughes Road, including all side streets and business parking lot access to Hughes Road, will be closed to all traffic at 5:10PM.

Roads will remain closed until conclusion of the procession.

There will be an Awards Ceremony following the parade on Front Street at the Gazebo.  The Madison Rotary Club will be at the Roundhouse serving Hot Chocolate and Cookies.  Don’t forget your camera, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for photos in the Gazebo following the Awards Ceremony.

Downtown Madison will be extremely busy. Please avoid this area when travelling. Pedestrian traffic will be heavy.

Some areas will taped off this year and designated as parking for organized student groups. The old Fire Station on Sullivan Street will be used for bus parking to transport JROTC, School Bands, and other large student groups. Do not cross these lines.
