HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Madison County Sheriff Blake Dorning and deputies met with the community this morning during the first Coffee with the Sheriff at the Mapco Mart at the Mapco store at the intersection of Highway 72 West and Slaughter Road.

Sheriff Dorning said, “We are pleased to partner with Mapco and the opportunity to connect with our community with good free coffee and conversation.”

Programs similar to this have been extremely popular across the country. It allows law enforcement and the public to interact and talk about common issues. They also hope to solve community problems.

Interaction between the two groups is an integral part of community policing.

Mapco has used this concept in the area around its Brentwood, Tennessee based headquarters, and the Sheriff’s Office approached them to form a mutually-beneficial partnership in Madison County.
