ROGERSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - A big announcement in Rogersville Monday revealed a new company will be heading to the town's industrial park.

Mayor Richard Herston said Custom Synthetic Fibers will initially employ up to 50 people with plans to expand in the next few years.

"They will all be local hires," Herston said. "People around here need work and a lot of people who are working away are interested in trying to get closer to home. So, I think there's going to be a really good pool of workers for them to choose from."

"It shows their commitment I think to our area," he said. "They didn't come in here expecting a lot, they came in here wanting to make their company successful themselves so they were willing to invest."

Custom Synthetic Fibers will recycle clear plastics to produce fibers used for products in the automotive and furniture industries. It is the first major company to move into Rogersville's industrial park area.

"I hope this is just the beginning, there are many more to come."

Leaders at Custom Synthetic Fibers hope to start operating around spring 2016.
