HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - When you have a game as old and as storied as the Iron Bowl you have cliches and theories. That's especially true in a year where it looks lopsided on paper. This year we've heard "you never know with this game will turn out."

But that isn't quite true.

The Tide and Tigers have met 79 times and of those games, the team with the worse record only won 16 times.

An unranked teams has only beaten a ranked team in the Iron Bowl 4 times. Auburn only won one of those in 2002. Alabama took the other three in 1984, 1985, and 1990.

You can't forget the impact of Nick Saban either. He's only lost to an unranked team 2 times while he had a team in the top 10, but one of those teams was Auburn when Saban was at LSU.

So, while upsets aren't common, they're not out of the question either. That's why we love college football, and the Iron Bowl.
