HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - The holidays are a time of big money being spent as we try to find that perfect something for those we love.
Meanwhile well known organization is out hoping to spread a little cheer to those in need.
The Salvation Army bell ringers, and their red kettles, are back at work, collecting donations for the less fortunate.
They say they count on days like Black Friday and Small Business Saturday to help them achieve their goal of helping the most people possible.
Bell ringer Bobby Petty Jr greets people walking into the Sam's Club on University Drive, and many drop cash into his red kettle on their way in or out of the retailer.
"It's been really good today, it's been busy," said Petty. "I think it's going to get even busier as we get closer to Christmas."
Though the bell ringers are only out during the holidays, the salvation army provides its services year- round.
