New CBS News Poll shows most feel President Obama doesn’t have clear plan for ISIS
CBS News released information on a new poll taken a week after the terrorist attacks in Paris. According to the poll, only 23% of Americans think President Barack Obama has a clear plan for dealing with ISIS. This is the lowest number recorded in a CBS News Poll.
The poll also shows an uptick in support for sending U.S. ground troops to Iraq and Syria to fight ISIS; 50% now favor the move. In addition, 63% of Americans say they believe ground troops will be necessary to defeat ISIS. Only 1 in 5 thinks the threat from ISIS can be removed using air strikes alone.
Americans are divided on whether Syrian refugees should be allowed to enter the U.S., but a large majority thinks stricter screening processes are needed. As you can see in the chart below, there is a stark partisan divide on this.
