FLORENCE, Ala. - On Saturday, a retired Purple Heart recipient and his family were given the keys to a mortgage-free home .  They were presented with the gift during the first half of the University of North Alabama football game.

Retired Staff Sergeant Andrew Fain stood on the field with his wife and children.  The University of North Alabama College Republicans spearheaded fundraising efforts, working with the Military Warriors Support Foundation to connect with the family.  A Florence businessman helped make it possible.

"It's made things a lot easier," (Ret.) Staff Sgt. Fain said.  "It's allowed me to make the transition from the Army and into other things, start school and figure out what I want to do. This opportunity has really changed things for my family.'

The Fains' new home is located in Phenix City, Alabama.
