Police: No charges at this point in deadly wreck involving pedestrian on California Street

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Huntsville Police have identified the man who was hit and killed by a vehicle Monday morning near Maple Hill Cemetery.  Police say he was 59-year-old Terrance Germani.

The incident happened about 5:30 a.m. on California Street just north of McClung Avenue.  Police say Germani was crossing the street when he was hit by a car headed south on California.  Germani died at the scene.

Police say Germani was wearing dark clothing and was not using a crosswalk.  The accident is still under investigation, but no charges have been filed against the driver.

Investigators say a deputy drove up to the scene right after it happened. The pedestrian was pinned under the vehicle at the time.
