Albertville Police: Driver hit bicyclist with car, took off, will face charges

ALBERTVILLE, Ala.- Albertville Police say a car hit an 18-year-old bicyclist around seven Saturday morning, near the intersection of Rose Road and McKinney Avenue.

Police say the car, a Suzuki Reno, dragged the bicyclist, then left the scene.

Officers say Sergio Cervantes, 31, was driving the Suzuki. They say they tracked him down at what they believe to be his residence. He faces felony charges for leaving the scene, with more charges pending. They believe he was intoxicated at the time of the wreck.

The victim was taken to the hospital, eventually being flown to Huntsville for treatment for leg and head injuries. Police do not know his condition at this time.
