UPDATE: Victim identified as Sparkman HS teen in fatal Toney car wreck

TONEY, Ala. (WHNT) – A 17-year-old girl was killed when she lost control of her car and hit a tree on Carters Gin Road, near the intersection with Jeff Road in Toney, confirms Madison County Coroner Bobby Berryhill.

The victim is identified as Ariyanna Deon Benjamin of Toney.

The wreck happened just before 6:30 p.m. on Saturday night. Benjamin was headed east when she lost control of her vehicle and hit a tree.

She had her seatbelt on, and the coroner says there is no indication the driver was impaired.

The coroner says she died instantly.

Alabama State Troopers are continuing to investigate this wreck.

Loved ones planned a community and school-wide memorial for Benjamin in the Sparkman High gym at 8 on Tuesday morning.
