Authorities search for inmate who escaped from facility in central Alabama

MACON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – The Alabama Department of Corrections is looking for 57-year-old Charles Simmons. They said he escaped from the Red Eagle Work Center after he  was not present at the 9:35 p.m. roster count.

Simmons is charged with theft of property. Authorities said he is about 5′ 11′ and 167 lbs. If you have any information, you’re encouraged to call ADOC at (800) 831-8825.

Macon County is just east of Montgomery, in central Alabama.
