It happened this morning at the intersection of Point Mallard Parkway and Upper River Road.

Two vehicles were involved in the head-on collision.

Investigators say a 39-year-old woman of Arab, driving a Tahoe was driving north when she swerved and crossed into the southbound lanes. Her vehicle hit a Kia car head-on. The driver of the Kia has been described as 60-year-old man Stephen Evans. He was pronounced dead on the scene by Morgan County coroner Jeff Chunn.

The female driver was transported to Huntsville Hospital by air ambulance. Hospital officials tell WHNT News 19 she is currently in the surgical intensive care unit (SICU) in serious condition.

Witnesses say the woman was driving erratically before the wreck.
