MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Governor Robert Bentley has signed the General Fund Budget for fiscal year 2016. That according to a photo he shared on Twitter.
He goes on to say the budget isn’t perfect, but says lawmakers made important changes that were needed.
Lawmakers passed a $1.7 billion operating budget on Wednesday after months of negotiations. Legislators approved a 25-cent-per pack cigarette tax and a transfer of education funds to minimize cuts to state services.
The beginning of fiscal year 2016 is October 1.
