HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Each year for the past two years, the EarlyWorks Family of Museums has put up a Patriot's Mosaic at the Huntsville Depot. More pictures are needed for this year's collage, which will create a new mosaic to go up at the Depot.
The Visions of Vets Patriot's Mosaic is an artistic tribute to the men and women who have served America. It will include 1,296 images combined to create one 15-foot by 15-foot patriotic photo mosaic.
If you would like to include a photo of your veteran for the next in the 10 part series of Mosaics you can do so at visionsofvets.com. A tax-deductible donation of $25 is required. The deadline to submit a photo is September 30, 2015. The new mosaic will be unveiled on November 11, Veterans Day.
The veterans don't have to live here in the Tennessee Valley. It is touching to go see the mosaics in person and see your loved one's picture on it, whether they are near or far or have passed away.
The Patriot's Mosaic is a fund-raising project for educational development at The EarlyWorks Family of Museums, and honors those who have served our country as a member of the armed forces. The Patriot’s Mosaic is produced in part through a partnership with the Madison County Commission. The images that have been submitted for the Patriot’s Mosaic Project are a cross-section of our country’s military history and represent all branches of service and many of the wars and conflicts the USA has been a part of since the Revolutionary War. More important than the branch of service or the time each served are the stories of the veterans represented in these photographs. These are the faces of freedom; Americans who sacrificed all that was asked by their country in the building of this great nation.
The Patriot’s Mosaic is a part of The Patriot’s Pathway initiative. The goal is to create an aesthetically pleasing public access walkway between the grounds of the Historic Huntsville Depot and the Madison County Veteran’s Memorial. This safe and respectful pathway will allow individuals to easily access and enjoy the Veteran’s Memorial and the newly added educational kiosks from the grounds of the Historic Huntsville Depot.
Both the 2013 and 2014 Patriot’s Mosaics remain at The Historic Huntsville Depot Grounds. The public is able to visit the Mosaic and the Depot grounds at no cost. The Historic Huntsville Depot Grounds will be open each day 9am-5pm. There will be a charge for tours of the Depot Museum.
