Denise Vickers with her gator – August 14, 2015

WHNT News 19 News Director and Station Manager Denise Vickers was lucky to pull one of 260 tags for Alabama’s annual alligator hunt — and it paid off!

The season began at 8 p.m. Thursday, and the hunt is a total of six days over two weekends. Hunters can work the waters in four designated regions from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. each night.

Well, she’s not a woman to waste any time — she got a gator on the first night!

“Well, I got a gator. But, any dreams of crushing the world record are just that… Dreams!  My gator is 7′, 1″… And wait for it…. 84 pounds.”

Denise said she had a blast.  She got the third gator of the night, and got to bed at 5 a.m.

We can’t wait to hear the story behind it, Denise! Congratulations.
