DECATUR, Ala. – There was an air of celebration Monday at Decatur City Hall, as Police Chief Ed Taylor swore in 10 new officers.

Chief Taylor says they represent the best of the best, and he’s confident they’ll be able to serve and protect the city.

“We’re certainly all aware of the negative publicity directed toward law enforcement in general but we live in Decatur, Alabama and we have strong community support in our community,” said Chief Taylor.

The new officers had to pass physical and written tests, along with an intensive training program. ¬†More training is ahead. ¬†After an orientation with the department, they’ll go to the state police academy.
