Athens teenager dies after a single-vehicle crash in Decatur

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) – A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of 14-year-old Andres Vicente of Athens.

State Troopers said Vicente was injured when the 1999 Mercury he was riding in, left Easter Ferry Road and hit a tree.

Troopers say Vicente was not wearing a seat belt. He was transported to University of Alabama at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Vicente died Friday morning.

The 16-year-old driver and another teenage passenger were also injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment.
