FYFFE, Ala. (WHNT) - Fyffe winning it's first state championship in 2014 gave the Red Devils reason to celebrate, but after taking time to enjoy the win the team went right back to work.  The team didn't rest on it's laurels, it started working harder than ever because now there was a big target on it's back.

"People just went about their job and all the stuff in the off season and really gave good effort."  Fyffe Head Coach Paul Benefield said. "We know what it's going to be like, everybody has circled us no their schedule, our guys are going to step up and do the best they can with it."

The Red Devils are keeping a level head about being the defending champs.  You won't hear these young men giving other teams bulletin board material, these guys just want to quietly go about their job.  "I'm just glad to be back out here and have a ring. You have people wanting to knock you off the top and it's nice."  Senior running back Tyler Ashley told WHNT.

Fyffe opens the 2015 regular season August 28th at Geraldine.
