FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) - Employees at the Royal Avenue Pool in Florence are going through training again after two women and their children were left behind when they closed for the night.

"We wrapped up swimming, then we came out of the dressing room and realized no one was here," said Cassie Scott, one of the mothers stuck at the pool.
Scott drove from Huntsville to spend Saturday with her friend in Florence, Hope Hines. She said the two haven't seen each other in years.
Both wound up stuck behind the barbed wire lined fence.
"We got a little worried but everything turned out okay," Scott said. "We waited about maybe five or ten minutes before the police arrived and we got out safely and in time."
Luckily, Scott had her cell phone on her, and they called 9-1-1.  She said she was going to leave it in her car at first. Hines is a diabetic and Scott's daughter is on seizure medication.
"My blood sugar was already very low, and I'm lucky I didn't go into shock," said Hines. "Anything could have happened."
City leaders said that's exactly why they are making sure this doesn't happen again.
"Apparently someone is too big a hurry just stuck their head in whereas they're supposed to go down and check each area and they did not do that," explained Florence city spokesman Phil Stevenson.
He added that it was not a conscious mistake, but a mistake in procedures.
"The supervisor on duty self-reported the incident after it happened, and they will be reprimanded," he said. "We are taking measures to make sure it doesn't happen again."
Those measures include retraining all employees on all procedures, including closing down the pool. City leaders said it was an isolated incident, but they aren't taking it lightly.
Both ladies received 25 pool passes for next year's pool season at the Royal Avenue pool. After this week, the pool is only open on weekend.
