MADISON, Ala. (WHNT)- The City of Madison is constantly growing and city leaders do not plan to slow down anytime soon. Madison Mayor Troy Trulock told WHNT News 19 about an exciting new development already in the works.

"This is just fantastic this is another first for the city of Madison and we couldn't be more proud," says Trulock.

Along Huntsville Brownsferry Road in Madison sits a massive area of land that will soon be The Village at Oakland Springs. The new development is very similar to Providence.

"It is going to be just like providence it is something we do not have in the City of Madison and I think there is a definite market for it here for a lot of our residents," say Mayor Trulock.

The new site will span over 150 acres and will feature over 400 single-family homes, town homes, condominiums, urban apartment homes as well as a village center with neighborhood retail.

Mayor Trulock says the village provides the city something different for residents to enjoy.  "Madison is traditionally known for families that have large back yards and have swimming pools an trampolines...Folks came to us a little while ago and they said we would like to put a T.N.D, Traditional Neighborhood District in the City of Madison."

The ground breaking for the project will be on Thursday at 11:00 a.m.
