LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. – A woman who filed a lawsuit claiming a sheriff violated her right to an abortion filed paperwork to inform the court that she has decided to carry the baby to full term and birth Wednesday.

The woman identified only as “Jane Doe” filed a lawsuit against Lauderdale County Sheriff Singleton last week, claiming he violated her rights to get an abortion and allowed cruel and unusual punishment.

Earlier Wednesday, the state of Alabama petitioned the court to strip her of parental rights in order to prevent her from obtaining the abortion.
