HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - At the Downtown Rescue Mission's new thrift store location, they are just about ready for the grand opening.

That will be this Friday and Saturday.

They have a lot to choose from. The store's assistant manager, Christie Alexander, lists off some of their wares, "Clothing, used furniture, housewares, shoes, purses. We're also carrying a line of new furniture at a discounted rate."

They can always use more donations, but they really need more shoppers too. The money spent, of course, goes to help the homeless.

This latest store is one of seven, and it's a real feather in the cap for the Downtown Rescue Mission.

You can see the pride they take in the store and the hard work that went into it.

Besides, there's not a lot of places you can get a good deal and do a good deed.

Alexander notes, "Whether you're donating or you're spending money in our thrift stores, it all goes back to changing lives. And I can sit here and say that it does. And I'm one of their success stories. And there's many."

She went through the program herself in 2013.

Now she readily admits, "The work that God has done through them in my life, I couldn't have done it."

Shopping at the thrift store helps the mission touch even more lives.

The new location is on Old Monrovia Road across from Madison Square Mall.
