ATHENS, Ala. – Six people have put their names in the running to seek the State House District 5 seat in a special election later this year.

Five candidates qualified with the Alabama Republican Party: Danny Crawford, Ronnie Coffman, Jerry Hill, Mike Criscillis and Chris Seibert.

The special primary election will be held on Tuesday, September 29.  If no candidate in each party receives a majority of the votes, a special primary runoff election will be held on Tuesday, December 8.

If no primary runoff is needed, the special general election will be held on Tuesday, December 8.  However, if a special primary runoff election is required, the special general election would be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2016.
