GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — University of Florida police have taken one person into custody after shots were fired outside a student residence building near the football stadium.

School officials sent a safety alert at 3:21 a.m. Monday stating that shots had been fired in the Murphree Hall lot.

Twenty minutes later, the school issued a second alert saying a person with a firearm had been taken into custody.
