Department of Corrections searching for escaped inmate convicted of robbery in Madison County

ELMORE COUNTY, Ala. – The Alabama Department of Corrections is looking for Roberto Talabera. He reportedly escaped from Draper Correctional Facility in Elmore County at 10:05 a.m. Monday morning.

Officials with the Department of Corrections say Talbera was assigned to a farming detail on the facility’s property when he escaped.

Officers are using K-9 units to track him.

Talabera, 37, was serving a 20-year sentence for Robbery 1st in Madison County. He and an accomplice were convicted of robbing four convenience stores at gunpoint in May of 2007.

He is 5’2″ tall and weighs 120 lbs. He was wearing  prison-issued white shirt and pants.
