FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) – A survey recently released puts the University of North Alabama in Florence at number 40 on the top 50 safest college campuses in 2015.

The survey done by bestcolleges.com put California State University in Fullerton at number one. Here a few facts that adds to student safety at UNA:

  • Student Nighttime Auxiliary Patrol (SNAP) is an after-hours escort program offered via a university police golf cart.
  • The department hosts a monthly crime log on its website, with information dating back to 2009.
  • Campus Crime Watch allows the university community to report any questionable activities or suspicious surroundings directly to university police.

They write that campus safety is a major concern for prospective students and their families in this day and age; as campus shootings and sexual assaults appear with increasing frequency in the national spotlight, many would-be attendees rank campus safety near the top of their list of requirements.
