DUTTON, Ala. (WHNT) - A group of young ladies in Jackson County are dancing their way to raise money for a great cause. The seven girls live in Dutton, and have big dreams of helping others.

The girls are planning their third annual dance recital, in which 100 percent of the proceeds go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis. In the last two years, the Seven girls have raised $10,000.

Wanda Griffith has two daughters and a niece in the group, and says they are the most amazing group of little girls. "They started with wanting to dance by the road, to wanting to dance in the back yard, to just make money for St. Jude's for kids their age to help them," adds Griffith.

Even though most of the girls are only 10, they plan every detail of their recital, from the costumes, to the dance moves. They also all recognize the importance of helping others. "It feels really good, it makes me feel good about myself that I'm helping children younger, same age, and older than me. And it just makes me feel really good," says 10-year-old Sydnee Griffith.

Ultimately, the girls hope for the event to grow so large, they have to find a bigger stage than the back yard.they also hope to eventually raise a million dollars. "We take from a penny up, they welcome anything that anybody can give, and no donation is too small," added Griffith.

In addition to accepting donations, the tiny dancers are also selling t-shirts they have designed, and home-made cedar bird houses. If you would like to attend, the performance will be held at the Griffith's home, at 54 County Road 123 in Dutton on August 1, at 5 pm.
