Huntsville Police investigating shooting over drugs on Fourth of July

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Huntsville Police say a 19-year-old was shot in the back after a drug deal went wrong.

The victim told police he and his cousin were selling marijuana at the corner of Lancewood Drive and Myrtlewood Drive.

The victim went on to tell police, when they arrived two males they knew by their ‘street names’ and an unknown male walked up to them.

Police say the unknown male demanded the marijuana at gunpoint, and when the victim and the offender struggled over the gun, and during the struggle the victim was shot in the back.

The cousin of the victim took him to Huntsville Hospital, where he was treated for non life-threatening injuries.
