LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. – Judge Gil Self sentenced Eugene Lee Jones to life in prison with the possibility of parole Wednesday morning. Jones was convicted in May for the death of Lula Addison, whose body was found in the City Lodge Motel in July of 2013.

During sentencing, the District Attorney’s office presented evidence of four prior felony convictions against Jones.

Addison’s family members shared emotional statements, addressing Jones and the court. One even said she hated Jones and believes he deserves what he gets.

Jones addressed the court and family, apologizing for what happened. He said he panicked when she died. He asked the family for forgiveness and said he feels their pain.

In the end, Judge Self sentenced Jones to life in prison with parole on his May conviction of manslaughter.
