TENNESSEE VALLEY– Most people classify lightning into two categories: cloud-to-ground or cloud-to-cloud. Lightning strikes can also be identified by their charge. Most lighting strikes are negatively charged, and form in the negatively-charged region under the base of a thunderstorm.
