HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - "A car started to come over some, around the curve a little too fast. So I eased over to the side there," said Tim Baker, as he describes his accident on Huntsville's Zierdt Road. Tim went off the edge of Zierdt just south of Beadle Lane. The problem was a deep rut right next to the crumbled edge of Zierdt Road.
That rut caused problems for Tim, and had to stop. "I might have blown a tire, yeah I've blown a tire. It broke my rim an everything." Tim had to have his car towed, and his thoughts about the rut pretty straightforward. "It's a dangerous spot there," said Tim.
We saw the rut, and the unsuspecting drivers going by it just inches away from trouble. We took action and called Huntsville's Public Works Department. A crew visited the hole next to Zierdt twice, and had to use several tons of asphalt mix to fill it. The result of our action, the hole is no longer a danger.
Tim Baker says it's a lot safer than it was, and he is definitely happy about that. "You got on the job, and you got it done. I have to give you a pat on the back for that. You're good,"says Tim Baker.
What we are... is glad to be able to help fix a dangerous road hazard. It's why we take action in the first place.
