TOWN CREEK, Ala. (WHNT) – A 9-year old boy ran into the path of a Lawrence County patrol car and was struck Thursday morning, according to Sheriff Gene Mitchell.

Mitchell says the child was taken to Helen Keller Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released with abrasions primarily to his arms.

Mitchell says the accident happened on Railroad Street in Town Creek while the deputy was on routine patrol. He says a witness verified the deputy’s vehicle was moving only at about 10mph.

The accident was investigated by Town Creek PD.  Mitchell says no charges will be filed against the deputy.
