Severe storms hit Illinois and Michigan
(AP) — High winds have caused property damage and uprooted trees in the Lee County, Illinois, community of Sublette.
Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Schultz says one person in a private camping resort, was hospitalized with injuries while four others were either treated on scene or refused treatment.
Further east in Grundy County, Emergency Management Director Joe Schroeder told WGN-TV that there were at least two injuries in Coal City, where the National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touched down.
In Michigan, A fire official says a severe storm badly damaged at least four houses and knocked down dozens of trees and power lines in an area about 25 miles southeast of Saginaw.
The National Weather Service is working to confirm two tornado reports in Michigan.
Earlier yesterday, the weather service confirmed a tornado hit Portland, a town near Lansing. Five people were rescued from buildings.
