Two hikers rescued near Flint River

MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Two hikers were rescued after getting lost along the Flint River in Madison County overnight.

The pair started their hike around 2:00p.m. Sunday afternoon near Oscar Patterson Road.

They called 911 about five hours later to report they were lost.

Rescue crews from New Market,¬†Moores Mill, HEMSI and the Madison County Sheriff’s office were involved in the search.

A Medflight crew used a spotlight to help locate the hikers around 1:30a.m.

Crews then pulled the man and woman from the scene, along with the family dog.

Both were taken to an ambulance on Rube Robinson Road. A woman complained of back pain and a man injured his shoeless feet.

The dog is doing okay.
