Emergency responders recover drowning victim from Coosa River

ETOWAH COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office says authorities have recovered the body of a drowning victim from the Coosa River.

WHNT News 19 has learned the victim is 30-year-old Christopher Mostello of Gadsden.

An Etowah County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson says crews recovered Mostello’s body just after 5 a.m.

Emergency crews were called out Sunday afternoon around 3:30 p.m.

A friend told first responders he was boating with Mostello. That friend reported Mostello went into the water and never resurfaced.

Mostello’s body has been taken to the Alabama Department of Forensics Sciences for autopsy.
