HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - The Boys & Girls Clubs of North Alabama opened the new Lincoln Teen Center on Abingdon Avenue on Monday, June 1st. The building was used as office space for the club and is now a safe place for teens.

The clubs' staff has been working for the past couple of months to renovate the dilapidated and uninhabited building. Thanks to donations from longtime supporters, the Home Depot and Sherman-Williams, the teen center is now a place where teens can enjoy video games, movies and one of the teens core programs. This summer's programming includes Career Launch, Diplomas to Degrees, SMART Girls, Date SMART, Passport to Manhood, and Money Matters.

"All of our programming is geared towards preparing the teens for high school, for careers, for college," Director of Teen Development Edwin Lightbourne said.

The Lincoln Teen Center is currently accepting applications for new members for the summer and fall programs. You can get your teen involved by visiting or calling 256-534-6060.
