Troopers: Crash kills man running from police in Falkville

FALKVILLE, Ala. – State Troopers say a single vehicle crash claimed the life of a Birmingham man fleeing police Tuesday night.

Gerald Lee Dukes, 51, was killed when the 2001 Oldsmobile he was driving left Culver Road and overturned, Troopers said. Dukes, who was not using a seat belt, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Trooper Curtis Summerville said Dukes was being pursued by Falkville Police at the time of the crash.

Alabama State Troopers are handling the investigation.
