Police respond to domestic dispute in Huntsville, officer injured

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Huntsville Police responded to a domestic dispute call on the 5900 block of Vinemont Drive around 1:30 a.m. Officers said the man and the woman living in the house are married. Police said the wife called because the husband threatened to set the house on fire.

According to police, when an officer went to the door, the husband threw hot coals in the officer's face. An altercation ensued between the officer and the man, when the man began having medical problems. HEMSI and officers immediately began treating the man who was taken to the hospital in serious, possibly life-threatening, condition. Police said he could face charges for assaulting an officer. The officer's injuries are minor.
