Fundraiser at Jules J. Berta Vineyards Friday to benefit Marshall County Home Place
ALBERTVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Providing a hand up, not a hand out — that’s one of the goals of Marshall County Home Place. But it needs the community’s help to do it.
“Home Place provides transitional housing for homeless families,” Home Place Executive Director Lee Hoggle explains, “It gives them a break while they have a chance to get back on their feet financially.”
A thrift store in Guntersville is one of the ways the organization raises the funds that reach people across Marshall County.
“Our agency depends on the generosity of the community, which does include fundraisers, to help us keep our doors open,” Hoggle says.
Friday, the organization is holding a fundraiser in Albertville. “It’s at Jules Berta Winery in Albertville, and we’re going to have Lake City Jazz playing. They’re a band out of Guntersville. You’ll be able to purchase wine there out of Jules Berta,” Hoggle says.
A project the organization is working on and has been for years is to build more housing, and fundraisers are vital in reaching that goal. “We have four apartments now, but we’re raising money to build four more apartments. So the proceeds from this will actually go to the building fund,” Hoggle says.
The fundraiser Friday will be held from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. Tickets can still be bought at locations across Marshall County, including Home Place Thrift Store, Kala’s Cottage, Fine Things, Whitten’s, and Boaz Discount Drugs.
Food will also be available from Earth and Stone.
Tickets are $12.50 per person.
