Southbound lanes of I-65 shut down in Morgan County because of damaged bridge

Wreck causes 15-mile backup on I-65 northbound in Cullman County

DODGE CITY, Ala. (WHNT) – Hundreds of drivers were caught in a major traffic standstill in southern Cullman County Monday afternoon.

There was a wreck on Interstate 65 northbound at mile marker 298, near Dodge City.  The wreck involved an 18-wheeler, a SUV pulling a camper and another personal truck hauling lumber, a witness reports.

The northbound lanes were stopped up to 15 miles back, all the way to mile marker 284.

The Cullman County EMA reports crews were on the scene cleaning up debris and trying to get the northbound lanes open again.

WHNT News 19’s Nathan McGee was stuck in the traffic, and said some people got out of their cars to walk around.

The road has since been reopened.
