HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Saturday, a group of survivors, caregivers, and supporters united to fight back against cancer at John Hunt Park.

For the first time, Relay for Life had a day festival to allow families to enjoy the 80's theme 'Back to the Future Where Cancer is the Past.' Cancer survivors took a victory lap around the dozens of sponsors and supporters.

Organizers say the event is a reminder of the continued fight for a cure, as well as a celebration of those who have beaten cancer.

"The goal of this event is to honor the survivors and caregivers," said Matt Matoushek, the event lead. "We were selected with the pilot program, we actually have a tent with the four pillars of the ACS mission which are, get well, stay well, find cures and fight back."

The day-long festival also included a survivor brunch and a luminary ceremony.
