UPDATE: Man could be charged with murder in DeKalb County homicide

DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) - A manhunt in DeKalb County has come to an end and a man is charged with assault and kidnapping as investigators learn more about a Saturday morning homicide on County Road 127.

Douglas Steven Minor, 32, and Norma Jo Grinnell, 36, both persons of interest, were both caught Sunday at a chicken house in Cherokee County. Minor is being held without bond at the DeKalb County Jail.  He could be charged with murder, pending the results of the autopsy which could be in tomorrow.

Grinnell is not facing charges at this time.  When she was caught, she had severe bruises to her face and was taken to the hospital. The Sheriff said Grinnell is considered a victim in the incident.

The murder

Sheriff's deputies say they received a call around 4 a.m. Saturday reporting an unresponsive female at a home belonging to Minor on Lookout Mountain.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they found the body of 35-year-old Bobby Lynn Ross with possible blunt force trauma to the head and bruising on the body.  District Attorney Mike O’Dell has ordered an autopsy.

DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris tells WHNT News 19 investigators found Minor's white Ford pickup around 3 p.m. Saturday.

With the help of Cherokee County deputies, St. Clair County deputies, and state troopers, dogs and a helicopter located the pair Sunday.
