Trip to prom interrupted by car accident that flips a family’s SUV

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Motorists in south Huntsville are facing a headache Saturday evening as first responders work to clear the scene of a wreck.

A white Chevrolet SUV is overturned. First responders say the wreck happened around 6 p.m.

The SUV carried a family, including an infant. Officials say there were no visible injuries on the baby.

The SUV was turning into Ledges when it collided with a red car carrying teenagers that are reportedly prom dates, they suffered minor injuries.

IMG_0630Huntsville Police say traffic was blocked down to one lane westbound on Carl T. Jones at the Ledges.

The road was reopened at 6:50 p.m.

Officials are still trying to determine what caused the wreck.
