HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Huntsville Police sent multiple units to an apartment complex Tuesday on Grandeview Boulevard, off Zierdt Road.  The situation is over, and everyone is safe.  Police say it was likely a hoax.

Police were called to Colonial Grand at Edgewater shortly after 10 a.m.  Officers say someone called 911 from an unidentified phone to report a bomb at the apartment complex.  The caller gave specific details, including an apartment, and also said someone in that apartment had been cut.

Police responded to that apartment, and two people were inside, but had no idea about any of this.

Police say they are looking into the possibility this is a ‘Swatting’ hoax – tricking 911 into an emergency response based on a false report.
