FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) – A home caught fire during the severe weather that rolled through the Shoals late Thursday night.

According to Lauderdale County EMA Director George Graybryan, an air conditioning unit was struck by lightning at a home on Calhoun Drive. The fire spread through the gas line.

“There was a lot of natural gas involved,” Graybyran said. “So, the gas department was on scene.”

One man was transported to the hospital with a back injury.

It’s not clear if the home is a total loss.
