HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Exciting news for many Huntsville citizens, and it came just in time for spring.

City and county leaders opened up a new park in south Huntsville on Saturday.  Southside Park is located off of Chaney Thompson Road near Aldridge Creek.

The park spans 50 acres, and includes a dog park.  There are plans to add an archery field and disc golf course later in the year.

The park comes as a result of cooperation between the city and county governments.
